Archbishop Angaelos reflects on Jesus as a Refugee

Category: Video By: Archbishop Angaelos

In this video, Archbishop Angaelos, who is a partner in the IDS-led CREID programme, Director of Refcemi and also the General Bishop in the United Kingdom of the Coptic Orthodox Church, reflects on how the Christmas story of Jesus and his family fleeing to Egypt is an opportunity to think people fleeing persecution and crises today. Earlier in this month, the UNHCR announced that the number of people forcibly displaced due to persecution, conflict, and human rights violations has passed 80 million.

His Eminence refers to a blog by Professor Mariz Tadros, which offers an alternative narrative of the Holy Family’s Flight to Egypt, set in modern times.
